Talking about a way of describing 50 years of the journal in Australia I thought this was an appropriate image. It was used to promote a new publication of essays called Potters in Australia which was on sale for $2.50 or $3 posted."The most comprehensive listing of artist-potters in Australia, with photographs of their work, signatures or marks, and biographical notes." It appeared in Pottery in Australia, vol.17 No.1 Autumn 1978.

  1. This is a great image.
I came across it too - in my scouring of the old mags. I'm not sure if it was intentional but i love the idea that we (potters / ceramicists / mud slingers etc) were / are creating our own image - a national identity in, of and through clay...
It's something that i've really noticed in the journals - the shifting of influence and identity over the years.
    Good stuff.
