Linda Back

I started working with clay over ten years ago. Since completing the Advanced Diploma in Ceramics course at Southbank Institute of TAFE in 2005, I have set up, and work from a studio in the backyard of my home in Ashgrove, Brisbane. I am very lucky to have a very practical and supportive husband, who has built me two sheds, one for the studio and the other to house a gas kiln.
I am still playing around; experimenting and practising different methods of making; wheel throwing (electric and kick wheel) slip casting and some hand-building, and making up new glaze recipes to fire in the kiln. There always seem to be lots of projects on the go. I am heavily involved in two art related oranisations, Fusions (formerly Qld Potters Association) and the Brisbane Institute of Art, which gives me opportunities to show my work and get feedback from fellow artists.
I am very pleased to have been invited to participate in this blogging project, as it will help me sit down and think about what I'm doing and how I can present my ideas to others. I also love to see how others work. I am very much looking forward to getting to know everyone better.
